Tour Overview

The Paro Tsechu is hosted in Thimphu city’s Paro dzong courtyard. For a fully comprehensive cultural experience, join the locals. Watch the neighbourhood monks perform a dramatisation of a Buddhist myth.
Monks act out Buddhist legends while donning vibrant silk costumes and meticulously carved masks of gods, demons, and animals. The congregation is said to be blessed by the gods through the sacred dances.

Detailed Itineraray

Day 1: Arrive in Paro
At the airport, your driver and guide will be waiting for you.
Driving from Thimphu to Paro
54 kilometres. Travel Time: One Hour
You’ll have lunch at your accommodation and then spend the rest of the day touring Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu – Punakha
In Bhutan, there are numerous motorable mountain crossings, including Dochula (3100 metres). Enjoy the breathtaking vista of the snow-covered mountain range.
108 identical stupas serve as a memorial at the site to remember the fallen and celebrate the defeat of the rebellion.You will be fed lunch while you travel to Punakha.
You must pass via Sopsokha village on the short climb to Chimi Lhakang (the fertility temple). This village is where the strange Bhutanese custom of phallus worship first appeared.

Day 3: Punakha – Paro
Punakha to Paro by car
126 kilometers. 3 hours and 25 minutes to get there
Drive back to Paro early in the morning to start the day. Explore Paro town and the surrounding areas after lunch.

Day 4: Paro Tshechu
To get to Paro dzong, where the major event will take place, you will be escorted. Prepare your senses and your camera for this colour extravaganza. Monks perform dances while donning vibrant silk robes and meticulously carved masks of gods, demons, and animals.

You can try on a traditional clothing at this time as well.The dance’s highlights include the dance of the cremation ground’s ruler, the narrative of the last day of judgement according to Buddhist legend, and the unfolding of Thongdrel (a big appliqué).

Day 5: Paro
This will be a really gratifying experience for an avid hiker. As you ascend the trail leading into and out of the woods, take in the aroma of pine. As you hike, let your imagination soar as your guide tells you about the Buddhist legend that surrounds this location.
When you reach the top, allow the brisk mountain air, the waterfall tumbling over the rock, and the aura of a remote monastery to uplift your spirit.

Day 6: Depart
You will say a sad farewell to this lovely Himalayan nation today and board an aircraft to your future location.
