The Royal Government of Bhutan is aware that tourism is a global phenomena and an essential tool for socioeconomic advancement, especially in developing nations like Bhutan.
With the foresighted policy of “high value low volume tourism”, the kingdom of Bhutan has successfully avoided the overcrowded, tourist-infested doom that has already befallen many travel destinations throughout the world.
The high value low volume tourism policy targets responsible visitors and ensures high revenue and yield per visitor while offering top-notch facilities and services for the sector.
Along with the reopening of tourism on the 23rd of September 2022, visitors must pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of 200 USD. With the revised policy of “high value low volume tourism,” Bhutan aims to provide the most exclusive and luxurious travel experiences for affluent travelers.
