Tashichho Dzong has served as the government’s recognizable headquarters since 1952. It is a beautiful and enormous building that is encircled by immaculate grass and lovely gardens. It is near the Royal Thimphu Golf Course and close to the main town. The Dzong is used as a venue for many national events, such as the popular annual 3-day Thimphu Tshechu festival and Domche.
Tashichho Dzong is one of the outstanding landmarks and must-visit places seen while in Thimphu. Visitors can view and experience the unusual fusion of institutional work environment and monastic discipline because the Dzong contains temples and chapels where monastic life can be observed. To the west of the dzong is a small tower, Ney Khang Lhakhang which houses a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha and other protective deities. There is also a small tower called Ney Khang Lhakhang to the west of the dzong which is home to a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha as well as other protective deities.
